Posted 1 month ago

Detex Corporation (Detex) is proudly investing in its future workforce. As part of Detex’s commitment to shaping and growing its workforce, as well as succession planning, the company is willing to sponsor paid internships for students who choose to gain workplace hands-on experience completing their education.

Purpose:

To provide workplace educational opportunities to qualified persons in the community as well as build a talent pipeline for future employment opportunities.

Intern Requirements:

The internship request must be supported by a transcript or proof of satisfactory completion (passing grade) of each course the student is enrolled in and must meet background and pre-employment requirements. Copies of all transcripts will be maintained in the intern-employee file.

NOTE: Intern student-employee compensation is subject to federal tax withholding.

Qualifications:

  • Intern student-employee must meet new hire onboarding eligibility requirements (background, pre-employment screening, e-verification, etc.).
  • Intern student-employees must receive a passing grade in courses on a pass/fail system or a grade of C or above for courses on a letter grade system. (A copy of the final grade card, transcript, or certification must be presented to show hours, certification, or degree received.)
  • Intern student-employee must be satisfactorily performing the duties and responsibilities of their position with Detex and attendance requirements.

Company orientation:

An intern will be provided with an orientation program that will highlight key aspects of the position the intern will be engaged in as well as all company policies with which he or she will be expected to conform during the specific term of employment. This orientation will exclude any discussion of programs and policies, including many of the benefits plans, which do not apply to specific-term employees. Each intern will be provided with an in-depth review of department functions and activities and the interaction of these activities with the work the student worker will be performing. The department review will be conducted by the department manager and team leads during the first week of employment.

Work Environment:

The intern operates professionally in and out of an office environment as well as the warehouse area. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.

DISCLAIMER: The intern will not work directly with heavy machinery and tools in the course of their regular duties unless they completed training and clearance. It is strictly prohibited for the position to engage with or approach heavy machinery without proper authorization and training.

Confidentiality and Nondisclosure of Trade Secrets:

As a condition of employment and consistent with your duty of loyalty to the Company, The Company, Detex employees are required to protect the confidentiality of Company trade secrets, proprietary information, and confidential commercially-sensitive information (i.e. financial or sales records/reports, marketing or business strategies/plans, product development, customer lists, patents, trademarks, etc.) related to the Company. Access to this information should be limited to a “need to know” basis and should not be used for personal benefit, disclosed, or released without prior authorization from management.

If you have information that leads you to suspect that employees are sharing such information in violation of this policy and/or competitors are obtaining such information, you are required to inform your supervisor/manager or Human Resources.

Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination and may subject the violator to civil liability.
