JOB SUMMARY:
The overall purpose and general responsibilities of the job.
Is responsible for incoming receiving and inspection, performing quality tests and/or comparisons of manufactured or purchased parts and materials for dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment and functional operation using various measuring instruments and devices; documenting results and findings; and other support related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The fundamental duties and tasks that define the job.
- Conducts incoming receiving inspection of various hardware parts and materials.
- Performs mechanical and electronic part inspections, machine shop first piece in-process and final inspections.
- Visually verifies pc board and components by comparing them to print specifications.
- Uses various measuring tools, such as, micrometers, calipers, steel rules, and height gauges to inspect products, parts and materials and insure they meet established tolerances.
- Records and maintains file of results and finding of inspections.
- Prepares vendor rejection notification reports and vendor warning reports as required.
- Communicates with co-workers and other departments.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
CONTACTS: Nature of contacts, external relationships and internal relationships.
Provides routine and technical information regarding status of and/or non-compliance of inspected product and materials.
Internal Contacts: Frequent contact with co-workers and other employees from various departments via face-to-face or by telephone.
External Contacts: May communicate with vendors.
RESPONSIBILITY: Supervision given, accountability, safety, budgeting, spending authority and confidentiality.
Primary responsibility is to inspect parts to specifications and to identify product/part discrepancies for non-conformance.
DIFFICULTY: Judgment, initiative and decision-making.
Follows established guidelines and procedures in performing essential job functions.
GUIDANCE: Supervision received and level of independence.
Receives general supervision when performing essential job functions.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Working environment and other conditions of employment.
Working conditions are primarily in an enclosed facility with temperatures controlled by central heat and air conditioning.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum requirements for formal education and job related experience.
Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate; or an equivalent combination of education and/or related experience.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Utilized in the performance of the essential functions of the job.
- Ability to perform quality control inspections and tests on products and materials
- Ability to use standard inspection measuring instruments and devices
- Skill in performing mathematical calculations
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, prints and engineering documentation
- Ability to record information accurately
- Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate verbally and in writing
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical requirements associated with performance of the Essential Job Functions.
Physical requirements include carrying/lifting 10 to 35 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to use various measuring and testing devices and operate computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment; subject to standing, stooping, bending, twisting and reaching approximately 85% of the time to perform essential job functions.
