JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for technical and sales training to internal and external customers on Detex and DSI products either at Detex facility, trade shows, or customer’s facility. Develop, design, and deliver training programs on Detex, DSI, and other OEM products. Responsible for Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales to identify product training needs specific to customer’s application needs. Assess customer’s training needs and develop custom training programs and other support-related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Include but are not limited to:

  • Develop training presentations to fit internal customers’ development and external customers’ application needs.
  • Assess the existing organization’s strengths and weaknesses in product knowledge and develop an annual product training program.
  • Provide and establish technical feedback and requirements to sales, engineering, product management, and manufacturing on existing and new products.
  • Review, analyze, and capture competitor’s product strengths and weaknesses and develop a training strategy and presentation.
  • Review existing sales and technical needs from Detex technicians and provide training programs bi-annually. This includes technical and internal/external sales training.
  • Support Sales Consultants, Product Management, Manufacturer’s Representatives, and Distribution and Integration Channel Partners on training products at trade shows, customers’ sites, events, and virtually with customers’ product inquiries and training requirements.
  • Support Product Manager and engineering to prepare technical marketing product documentation on custom products.
  • Provides general and technical information related to product development, design, and marketing.
  • Design and collaborate with Technical and Digital Marketing Teams to produce training videos.
  • Develops and utilizes virtual and digital training on online portals (TEAMs, Zoom, etc.) to support necessary training efforts, commonly asked questions platforms, and what differentiates Detex/DSI products from competitors.
  • Supports continued efforts related to Sales videos highlighting to the end user and architects what truly sets Detex apart from competitors.
  • Reviews Tech Support problem call logs, production mistakes, and engineering redesigned monthly to determine training needs and develop training materials tailored to items identified to reduce waste and increase quality.
  • Provide technical training to technical writers, engineers, and architects at events and lunch and learn.
  • Provide feedback from the field to manufacturing, engineering, technicians, and sales regarding competition and Detex/DSI products.
  • Assist sales, marketing, and product management on product releases.
  • Actively participates in BHMA and other appropriate standards committees.
  • Effectively communicates with coworkers, other departments, and external persons.
  • Supports cross-training of new hires and staff members.
  • Follows safe working practices and wears personal protective equipment as required.
  • Estimated travel requirements: minimum 40%
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in electrical or mechanical engineering, BSMET, and 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and related experience is preferred.

  • Ability to create and develop training presentations.
  • Ability to present and speak to large groups, individuals, and small teams.
  • Knowledge of Detex and DSI products preferred.
  • Knowledge of technical drawings and wiring schematics
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering designs, specifications, and installation instructions, and troubleshoot electronic and hardware products.
  • Ability to interpret process sheets, manual drawings, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of advanced mathematics and its applications.
  • Computer proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and ability to operate office equipment, computers, phones, etc.
  • Ability to maintain records, and documents and compile and organize reports accurately.
  • Ability to effectively listen and communicate tactfully verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Be willing to work weekend hours, and overtime as required.
  • Bilingual/multilingual preferred to support international efforts (especially in Mexico).

  • Visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand-eye coordination, utilizing near and far vision, depth perception, and manual dexterity necessary to work with various materials, and objects and operate a telephone, computer keyboard, basic office, and which are essential aspects of this position.
